Siemens 840D 5‑Axis Mill Set‑Up Expert

Your mission

Own the setup of simultaneous 5‑axis CNC mills (DMG MORI with Siemens 840D controls) for aerospace‑grade parts. Translate blueprints and models into motion, align fixtures and tooling, run 3D quickset and probing, validate the control readout against the print sheet, and deliver repeatable, inspection‑ready results.

What you’ll tackle

• Set up and run complex 5‑axis programs; adjust G‑code, speeds, and feeds for precision and finish.
• Execute tool selection/installation and manage indexing/tool posts for optimal performance.
• Perform first‑piece inspections; complete critical dimension sheets; meet Quality’s inspection plans.
• Calculate compound angles and features when needed.
• Use digital metrology (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to verify every key dimension.
• Maintain 5S and total preventative maintenance; keep your area inspection‑ready.
• Load/unload raw material and parts efficiently and safely.
• Collaborate with Engineering and follow established control/manufacturing plans.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• 5+ years precision CNC milling; simultaneous 5‑axis strongly preferred; DMG MORI experience preferred.
• Proven ability to maintain ~0.0002"–0.0005" tolerances, read blueprints, and use digital gauges.
• Siemens 840D experience strongly preferred.
• Comfort with shop math and GD&T; basic computer skills.
• High School Diploma/GED.

Standout extras

• Associate’s degree or two years of equivalent higher education; or equivalent experience.
• Experience in precision shops running CNC mills/lathes.
• AS9100 environment experience (strongly preferred).
• Consistency meeting customer surface finish specifications.

Comp & growth

• Pay aligned to experience and our job progression/job hierarchy.
• Starting pay range: $28–$36 per hour, DOE.
