About West Michigan Secured Transport:

West Michigan Secure Transport (WMST) is a family owned and operated B2B cannabis secured transport company based out of Grand Rapids, MI. WMST provides essential secured transportation of medical and recreational cannabis & THC products throughout intrastate Michigan.

Responsibility Level:

With general to limited supervision, performs order pickups and deliveries, and collections of cash/check payments. Responsible for handling the product, as well as handling cash payments. Ensures timely and safe delivery of product and cash to and from our customers. Assists with inspections/verifications of orders to meet compliance requirements. Assist in operations involving communication to WMST management and/or customers. Assists in driving with a team member, or riding with a team member in company commercial vehicles. Complete knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards. Complete knowledge of all Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) compliance rules and regulations. Safety training in the WMST training program.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Drivers are equipped with a designated route guide/manifest and you must stick to this at all times.
  • Ability to work SAFELY by following policies and procedures in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to perform preventative and corrective inspections in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to physically assist in the loading and unloading of orders to/from company vehicles while following inventory control procedures.
  • Ability to identify disruptions and compliance violations on all customer orders.
  • Ability to inspect and operate all company vehicles.
  • Completing logs and reports
  • Report daily to management with clear and effective communication.
  • Following assigned routes and schedules
  • Following all Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) compliance rules and regulations
  • Uses handheld electronic devices to scan and track currency shipments and determine vehicle routes.

Duties:

1. Perform routine order pickups and deliveries.

2.Perform inspections/verifications of orders and ensure compliance requirements are met.

3.Perform unskilled manual labor in a safe and timely period.

4.Assists in preventative and predictive maintenance as directed by supervision.

5.Acknowledges general workings of operating procedures and duties outlined for other job positions within the company.

6.Assist in all adjustments of customer orders with view toward customer satisfaction.

7.Maintain clean and prepared company vehicles before and after routes.

8.Maintain inventory logs on all orders; record, correct, and report all deficiencies and other unusual occurrences.

9.Ability to read Manifests, package tags, product and compliance labeling, on all orders.

10. Ability to adjust orders through proper communication with WMST management and customers to meet compliance requirements and regulations.

11. Maintain Metrc compliance by assisting in reporting manifest numbers through the designated communication platform (WhatsApp) as orders are accepted, departed, and arrived, as well as, checking-in and checking-out orders as they enter and depart the vault at our facility.

12.Comply with all company policies and procedures and adhere to company standards.

13.Must be a team player committed to work in a quality environment.

14.Skilled in the use of operating a variety of common warehouse equipment.

15.Skilled in the operation of a variety of company vehicles including, but not limited to, box trucks and sprinter vans.

16.Ability to drive/ride with all team members to meet CRA requirements of two drivers in the vehicle.

17.Willingly perform other miscellaneous job related duties as requested, including all general inventory, clerical, and maintenance activities.

Skills:

  • Ability to operate box trucks and sprinter vans in a variety of weather and traffic conditions
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Good driving record with no traffic violations
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Military/Law Enforcement Background is a plus (but not required)
  • Some security experience
  • Ability to drive for extended periods of time
  • Working knowledge of navigational tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical maps is essential.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED, or two (2) years of equivalent work experience.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Must be able to pass a background check and physical
  • Dependable transportation to and from work
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs
  • Must be able to work as needed including various shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • PER CRA GUIDELINES WHILE EMPLOYED AT A SECURE TRANSPORT BUSINESS YOU CAN NOT BE EMPLOYED AT ANOTHER LICENSED CANNABIS FACILITY

Experience:

  • Driving: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Security: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Valid Michigan Chauffeur’s License (Required)
  • ME Certification/DOT Med Card (Required)

Position Type:

Full-Time / Part-Time

Shift Schedule:

  • 8 hour, 10 hour, and 12 hour Shifts
  • Day Shift (Monday-Friday)
  • Start times vary (6:30 am - 7:30 am) based on route
  • Overtime
  • Weekend availability required
  • Shift flexibility required
  • *Occasional overnight routes available, but not required

Location: On the Road (All routes start and stop in Grand Rapids, MI)

Employment offer is contingent on the employee passing a pre-employment physical / background check. Successful completion of in-person safety training prior to start date. Obtaining a chauffeur’s license prior to start date. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
